Puerto Vallarta received 2,178,100 international passengers between January and August 2026, a decrease in international passenger traffic compared with the same period a year earlier.

During January through August 2025, the destination received 2,712,500 international passengers. The difference was 534,400 passengers, and international arrivals were 19.7% lower year over year. The passenger figures were cited from the Centro de Investigación y Competitividad Turística (STARC).

Against that backdrop, Puerto Vallarta will be one of the venues for activities open to the public during the seventh edition of Travel Pop Up, which will take place from October 29 to November 8.

The event will bring together around 25 travel-focused content creators from different countries, including Spanish-speaking creators who reside in the United States and Canada. Participants will come from Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina.

During their stay, the creators will visit different locations in Jalisco to produce content about the state’s tourist, cultural, and gastronomic attractions. According to Diana Rodríguez, they will also visit the 12 Pueblos Mágicos of Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta, and Guadalajara.

For visitors interested in the public program, the Centro Internacional de Convenciones will host conferences, talks about content creation, panels for tourism-sector professionals, and an exhibitors’ area on October 30. The Secretaría de Turismo de Jalisco supports the event.
