Awaysis Adds Slice & Smash Menu

Awaysis is a bar and live entertainment venue in Zona Romántica, at Aquiles Serdán 625 in Emiliano Zapata, Puerto Vallarta. It is known as “The Bar for Everyone.” The venue has built its following on drinks, live music, trivia, karaoke, bingo and cribbage, with a welcoming atmosphere where locals, visitors and performers quickly become part of the family.

Las Mambas and Bobbi + The Others both performed at Awaysis’s second anniversary party in 2024. Awaysis opened in October 2022. Its season opening is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026. Awaysis’s fourth anniversary party is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, and the venue is entering its fifth season in business.

The coming food arrangement will bring Slice & Smash’s menu to Awaysis. Slice & Smash is a street-food stand known for smash burgers and pizza, and it was named Favorite Hamburger at the third annual We Are Puerto Vallarta Awards, held April 1, 2026, at Coco Cabaret. José Rodriguez owns Slice & Smash.

Rodriguez said the original Slice & Smash location will remain open and described the Awaysis arrangement as an expansion, not a move. Rodriguez also said Slice & Smash will keep the items people already come to it for, especially smashburgers and pizza. The arrangement lets Slice & Smash build on its existing menu while trying new dishes. The Awaysis menu will include new items such as salads, wings, nachos and chimichangas. Rodriguez said the arrangement will give Slice & Smash room to try new things and build out the menu in a different way.

Adam McRoberts and Gavin Garner own Awaysis. They said they wanted the food to feel like a real part of the experience rather than an afterthought, while McRoberts and Garner said familiarity is an important part of the new partnership. They also said José understood immediately what they wanted Awaysis to be. Their description of the arrangement was direct: “Awaysis remains Awaysis and Slice & Smash remains Slice & Smash.”
