Puerto Vallarta will host the third edition of the 2026 Earth and Space Sciences Fair at Parque Hidalgo on Wednesday, October 28. The 2026 Earth and Space Sciences Fair will be free. The fair’s activities will be held from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. A complete tour of the different offerings will take approximately one and a half hours, while each workshop will last approximately 15 minutes.

The fair aims to bring scientific knowledge closer to children, young people, and families through workshops, demonstrations, and interactive activities. Attendees will be able to participate in experiences designed to awaken curiosity and facilitate learning of scientific concepts through practical activities. The activities will address topics including tsunamis, volcanoes, and risk prevention.

A central objective of this edition is to promote knowledge of natural phenomena. It also aims to contribute to identifying hazards and risks, including those related to tsunamis and volcanoes. The organization seeks through science outreach to help the population better understand these phenomena and recognize the importance of prevention.

The initiative also aims to strengthen scientific culture, the relationship between science and society, and closer ties between Vallarta society and Earth sciences. The proposal aims to promote greater education in Earth sciences and expand the social impact of scientific knowledge in Puerto Vallarta. It seeks to establish the fair as an accessible outreach space for Vallarta families.

The Unión Geofísica Mexicana organized the initiative. On Tuesday, October 27, it held a press conference to invite the public to participate in the fair. The press conference took place in the Press Room of RAUGM 2026, located at Hotel Sheraton Buganvilias in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Juan Américo González Esparza, president of the UGM and director of CITE-UNAM, participated in the press conference. Catalina Armendáriz Beltrán, the UGM’s secretary of Outreach and president of the fair’s organizing committee, also participated.

Karen Leticia Flores Navarro, coordinator of the Scientific Research and Monitoring Area, was expected to participate, but her participation was pending confirmation in the call for participation. During the meeting, the organizers presented the event’s objectives and scheduled activities, along with the importance of strengthening scientific culture and preventing natural risks among Vallarta families. The organization provided the public with more information on its official website.
