Amado Nervo bridge set to open October 28
The Amado Nervo bridge connects Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, with Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit. Its opening will add a new strategic connection for daily travel between Jalisco and Nayarit. The bridge will link Ixtapa in Puerto Vallarta with San Vicente in Bahía de Banderas in less than 15 minutes.
The opening is intended to speed up mobility between Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas and strengthen the connection in this metropolitan area. Thousands of people travel daily between the two municipalities for work, school, and economic reasons. The project will benefit nearly half a million residents of both municipalities.
The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation reported that the Amado Nervo bridge would be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The bridge will be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, two months after construction work on the bridge and complementary works were completed. The complementary works were necessary to connect the roads of both states with the new infrastructure.
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo promoted the project, which began in late July 2025. The opening is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Nayarit Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero will lead the event, and he will attend the ceremony. SICT head Jesús Esteban Medina and state authorities will also attend the ceremony.
Reports differed: Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s attendance had not been confirmed at the time of publication, while she was expected to attend the inauguration.
