The Universidad de Guadalajara, through Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUCosta), will hold the 10th edition of Carrera Leones Negros Puerto Vallarta Diagnósti-k 2026. The race began in 2017 with approximately 1,200 participants. It now has a recreational, family-oriented, and inclusive format intended for families, students, workers, graduates, and the general public. The event has promoted physical activity, socializing, inclusion, and university identity in the region for a decade.

The 10th edition is expected to involve around 2,500 runners across Tomatlán, Cabo Corrientes, and Puerto Vallarta. Approximately 1,800 people are estimated to participate in Puerto Vallarta, with about 300 in Tomatlán and 400 in Cabo Corrientes. Runners can choose between 2-kilometer and 5-kilometer routes. The race has categories for children, young people, adults, and older adults, as well as formats for participants with visual disabilities and wheelchair users. The recovery fee is 390 pesos.

Registration will be available at CUCosta locations and through TROTIME. Participants will receive a commemorative kit containing a shirt, race number, and medal. In Puerto Vallarta, the event will additionally have electronic time recording, route security, hydration, and visual recording for dissemination on social networks.

For the 10th edition, CUCosta will add a Corredor Cultural Universitario. It will be present during kit distribution and will show cultural and educational proposals associated with CUCosta. The corridor is intended to expand the race experience, bring participants and families closer to the Universidad de Guadalajara’s artistic, cultural, and academic expressions, and show the university community’s work and talent. The Corredor Cultural Universitario represents an outreach strategy by the Universidad de Guadalajara, through CUCosta, with the communities of Puerto Vallarta, Tomatlán, and Cabo Corrientes. It is intended to strengthen the relationship between the institution and the societies of the participating municipalities.

The Tomatlán activities are scheduled for October 25. José Guadalupe Alcantar Vallín is the general coordinator of Carrera Leones Negros Diagnósti-k 2026, and María Esther Avelar Álvarez is the rector of CUCosta. To take part, prospective runners can register through CUCosta locations or TROTIME.
