Punta de Mita hosts first mural festival
Punta de Mita will host the First Festival del Mural de Bahía de Banderas on October 24 and 25.
The project is promoted by the Batalla por la Playa and Murales de Mita collective and is being carried out with local artists, invited muralists and community residents.
The initiative aims to fill the town’s streets with art and color through murals inspired by the region’s environment, flora and fauna. Participants will work in different spaces to depict their identity, stories and commitment to the natural environment. The project also aims to highlight local identity and promote conservation of the region’s natural wealth.
A digital map will be made available as part of the activities, allowing visitors and residents to tour the murals and meet their creators.
The festival’s closing event will take place on October 25 starting at 6 p.m. in Corral del Risco, on avenida Pescadores and calle Atún, in front of the El Sueño restaurant.
The program will include live music, food and drinks, art and merchandise sales, and activities for girls and boys.
The organizers have requested financial and material donations to contribute to the development of the community initiative, and have also called for volunteers.
More details about the festival and ways to participate can be found through the social media accounts of Batalla por la Playa and Murales de Mita.
