Tropical disturbance 92E could become Tropical Storm Simón if it reaches tropical-storm status, and Simón is the name that would be officially assigned to it at that stage. Meteorological models show a northwestward movement and include scenarios in which the disturbance could approach the coasts of western Mexico during the following weekend. The possible coastline approach is projected for between Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. The projections also contemplate a strengthening period between October 9 and October 10. They include both tropical-storm scenarios and scenarios with hurricane potential, but they do not yet establish the system’s definitive intensity. For Jalisco and surrounding areas, Protección Civil indicated possible storms, heavy rains, wind and elevated waves. Scenarios toward Jalisco and neighboring states include a possible approach to Nayarit, although there is not yet certainty that the system will affect Nayarit. Any effects in Nayarit will depend on the system’s evolution and its distance from the coast. Protección Civil asked people to stay attentive to weather updates. For visitors and residents in Nayarit, the practical next step is to follow those updates as the disturbance develops and its distance from the coast becomes clearer.
