Gaviotas, Mikado earn World Culinary nominations
Gaviotas and Mikado, two Puerto Vallarta restaurants based at hotels, are nominees in the seventh annual World Culinary Awards.
Gaviotas is located at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center and offers fine dining in Puerto Vallarta. Its nomination is in the Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in Latin America category. The restaurant focuses on creative dishes, quality ingredients and carefully selected flavors, and holds AAA Four Diamond certification. Gaviotas won the same category in 2014.
At the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Mikado is a Japanese restaurant competing for Best Hotel Restaurant in Mexico. Its chefs prepare meals in front of diners, and the restaurant has 14 teppanyaki grills. Mikado has operated since 1990.
The World Culinary Awards recognize excellence in the global culinary industry and are considered the sister event of the World Travel Awards. The World Travel Awards have honored achievements in tourism since 1994. The current nominations recognize the restaurants’ efforts to provide memorable dining experiences and their continued commitment to culinary excellence. They also highlight Puerto Vallarta’s growing profile as an international culinary destination.
Public voting is open. Voters must register on the official World Culinary Awards website before casting a ballot. The 2026 ceremony is scheduled for October 13 in Jamaica. Visitors who want to participate can register before voting, then consider Gaviotas or Mikado according to the category in which they are nominated.
