Puerto Vallarta could become one of the preparation venues for the Mexican Frontenis Team ahead of the World Championship. The city is among the options for a training venue because it offers conditions similar to those the athletes will face at the international competition. The Mexican Frontenis Federation is considering holding training camps during September.

If Puerto Vallarta is confirmed, the camp would bring together between 20 and 25 people. Expected participants include players from different disciplines, coaches, and representatives of the Mexican Frontenis Federation. The work plan includes two weekends of training camp, while Guadalupe Hernández reported that it includes one intensive week of training.

The intention, Hernández said, is to use Puerto Vallarta’s characteristics to fine-tune preparation before the team’s trip to South America. The World Championship will be held from October 10 to 18 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Young people who will compete in future Sub-23 world championships are also expected to participate. These young people would have the opportunity to train alongside national team players to strengthen their sporting development. Outside official training camps, each team member maintains an individual training program. Each team member also works with other athletes to improve technical, physical, and tactical aspects.

Guadalupe Hernández is currently preparing under the instruction of coach Edgar Salazar, who took over as head of the Mexican Women’s National Team in March of this year. Two representatives of the municipality are members of the national team: Ximena Plácido and Guadalupe Hernández.

Hernández said a Mexican Frontenis Team training camp would also bring the sport closer to Puerto Vallarta’s population. She considered that the team’s presence would promote sports and project the city as a place suitable for hosting high-performance events. She added that the event would allow people to learn more about a sport that continues to gain ground internationally. Many people in Puerto Vallarta still do not know this sport.

Hernández also said the event would be an opportunity for children, young people, and families to observe closely the work of those who will represent Mexico at the World Championship.
