Bahía de Banderas notice urges nautical suspensions
The Port Authority of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle issued Maritime Safety Notice 049/2026 on September 27 for Lo de Marcos, San Francisco, Sayulita, Punta Mita, and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The notice was issued because maritime conditions had deteriorated due to Tropical Depression Dieciocho-E. It warned of high waves on beaches, heavy rain, electrical activity, wind gusts, flooding, and landslides, as well as increased high waves, rip currents, and swell at different points along the coast of Bahía de Banderas. At 03:00, the system was approximately 519 kilometers south of Acapulco, Guerrero. At that time, it had sustained winds of 30 knots and gusts of up to 40 knots. The notice anticipated a gradual increase in the system’s intensity over the following hours and waves of up to 4.2 to 4.8 meters near the system. The National Meteorological Service also forecast heavy rain in areas of Jalisco and Nayarit during Sunday.
For people planning activities from the listed communities, the authority recommended taking safety measures and, when necessary, suspending nautical and fishing activities. The recommendations included suspending tourist tours, diving, snorkeling, personal watercraft rides, and banana boat rides. They also included avoiding going out to sea while adverse weather conditions persisted. Boats were asked to check weather conditions before departing and remain attentive to notices from the maritime authority. The Port Authority also asked people to follow the recommendations of Civil Protection and the National Maritime Authority.
