For those who love to watch birds: Sierra del Vallejo Biosphere Reserve, San Pancho & Sayulita, 3 different habitats. Tropical forest, Dry Forest & Shore land birds in one morning!
Sierra del Vallejo located inland from the town of Nuevo Vallarta. Black-bellied tree duck, great blue heron, roseate spoonbill, herons, seagulls, parrots, pelicans and ducks thrive in the bird habitat created from the meeting of the freshwater Ameca River with the salty Pacific Ocean, after visiting this great area we´ll return to vehicle and drive towards Sayulita and San Pancho, its estuary overflowing with avian life, together offer a matchless destination.
On the tropical deciduous forest we’ll enjoy a light breakfast among sightings of Hummingbirds, Parakeets, Kiskadees, Flycatchers, Motmot, Woodpeckers, San Blas Jays, Green jays; Long-Tailed Hermit Hummingbirds and Yellow-winged Caciques, Dry forest Citroline trogon, Chachalacas, Happy wren, plus the shore birds. Northen Jacana, Herons, Sandpiper (and the Mexican Endemic´s) more than 40 species per day. Our guide is a specialized and certified bilingual guide by SECTUR. He has a fascination with birds and is a dedicated conservationist.
Ground transportation provided on all tours. First aid Kit, Binoculars and Spotting Scope. Checklists and all manner of Field Guides for Mexican and North American Birds as reference books.
Throughout the tour- energetic snacks, fruit, purified water and soft drinks are available.
Departure time for the tour in winter is 7 am. from the Hotel Catedral. Downtown,
Marina Office at 6:30am or 6:10am outside Farmacia Guadalajara, in Nuevo Vallarta, locations here – MAP.
In the summer times are 30 mins earlier.
All-terrain shoes or tennis shoes, neutral color clothes (not bright), sun hat or cap, insect repellent, camera and Birding Spirit.
What to bring: Binoculars, comfortable clothes and shoes, insect repellent, camera and hat .
