Puerto Vallarta has more Gay Nightlife, Clubs, Bars and Restaurants than ever, but was always gay friendly, even from 35 years ago.
We even had our first Gay Pride parade in 2013
Most gay nightlife will be found in the Zona Romantica (South Side or Old Town), concentrated around Los Muertos Beach, Olas Altas, inland to Insurgentes and south to L. Cardenas.
Los Muertos Beach.
On the beach there’s the Blue Chairs, Ritmos Beach Club (Green Chairs)
Olas Altas Area – Many of the Bars and Lounges in this area are a mixed, gay and straight. Many restaurants are gay owned and all are gay friendly.
The Olas Altas area is 1 block off the main gay oriented beach, Los Muertos, where you will find the Blue Chairs, Ritmos Beach Club (Green Chairs/Blue chairs). After the beach, there are plenty of gay friendly bars and lounges within a 5 minute walk.
Around the corner on Calle Pulpito is Garbo, an upscale, piano bar with live entertainment almost every night. The entertainment is low key ranging from lounge style singers, piano players and guitarists. The ambience is elegant but not stuffy. The have a full bar as well and are frequented by locals who are friendly and welcoming to tourists.
Further down the street, on the corner, is La Noche, another upscale indoor martini bar, air conditioned and with a nice rooftop. Video monitors playing a wide variety of music videos and photos of their clientele. The ambience allows for conversation and the seating arrangement allows for groups of almost any size to rearrange the furniture to fit their needs. It is frequented by locals and is a favorite for gay tourists before heading out to one of the dance clubs later in the evening. The drinks are large and very reasonably priced and the staff and service are terrific.
Also in the area, you will find Mr Flamingos, Anonimo, Diva’s, Frida’s, Los Amigos, Reinas and La Margarita each offering a different style of cantina bar with varying age groups All are popular with locals and tourists alike.
Vallarta’s 2 large dance clubs include CC Slaughters and Paco’s Ranch. They are both located in the general area of Lázaro Cárdenas and are 2 minute, easy and safe walks from the bars listed above. There is also a new after hours nightclub called Enter and it’s open from Thursday to Sunday from 12am-10am.
Paco’s Ranch is Puerto Vallarta’s original dance bar. In April 2010 they left their original three story building for a larger, one story building one block down the street closer to downtown.
Rio Cuale Area – On the North Side of the River
Another safe, easy 2-minute walk over the Rio Cuale Bridge will bring you to this group of clubs.
For something completely different, try Antroplogy , Mexico’s only gay male stripper bar where the strippers take it all off, seriously. Featuring over 20 male strippers nightly from 9:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m., Antroplogy is a great place for a different type of entertainment. The strippers are very attractive, very friendly and very entertaining. They dance on the bar, on the floor and table side. This is a great place to come alone or bring friends. They typically charge a cover but free passes are available from most of the gay or gay oriented hotels and they are passed out on the beach at theBlue Chairs and Ritmos Beach Club during the day. The clientele is a mixture of locals and tourists, all age brackets but typically 35+ years old. Men Only allowed admission although the club can be booked in advance, on a limited basis, for private parties, including bachelorette parties. Private parties are the only time women are allowed into the club.
